Amazing Wheels is back with version 1.2.3 for both the free phone app and the paid TV app. This update brings the apps up to date with the latest Android releases, so people with new phones, tablets and TVs can install them from Google Play again.

What's new in 1.2.3

The biggest change is under the hood: both apps now target the newest Android platform, which Google Play requires before an app can be offered to the latest devices. If Amazing Wheels was missing from Google Play on your new device, it should now show up and install normally.

Both apps also get:

  • A proper fit on modern screens. Recent Android versions draw apps from edge to edge, behind the status bar and the navigation bar. The toolbar now extends neatly behind the status bar, and the wheel, buttons and banner stay clear of the system bars and camera cutouts.
  • Updated building blocks. The Google Play services, billing, crash reporting and analytics libraries are updated to their current versions, with the security and stability fixes that come with them.
  • A new privacy policy address. The Privacy policy item in the side menu now opens xnano.net/privacy.

Your wheels, wedges and settings are kept when you update. Nothing needs to be set up again.

Amazing Wheels (free)

The free app for phones and tablets stays free to download and use, with ads. Spin the built-in wheels or build your own for decisions, party games, classroom picks and giveaways, exactly as before.

In this version:

  • Pro purchases use the latest Google Play Billing. Upgrading to Pro to remove ads goes through Google's current purchase flow. If you already have Pro, it carries over automatically: there is nothing to buy or restore.
  • Updated ad libraries. The ad partners in the app are on their current versions. The ad banner now sits above the navigation bar instead of under it.
  • Cleaner layout on new phones. The home screen, the wheel manager and the wedge editor all respect the status bar, so the menu, edit and sound buttons are fully visible and easy to tap.

Amazing Wheels for TV (paid)

The TV edition is a one-time purchase with no ads, made for Android TV and Google TV and controlled with the remote. It gets the same platform update as the phone app, so it installs on the newest TVs and streaming devices again.

In this version:

  • Ready for the latest Android TV releases. The app targets the newest Android version, which Google Play requires for new TV devices.
  • Your purchase is unchanged. If you bought the TV app before, update it from Google Play and keep using it. The license check works as before.
  • Same library updates as the phone app, including the security and stability fixes in Google Play services.

Supported devices

Version 1.2.3 needs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or newer, up from Android 5.0 before. Google's current billing library no longer supports Android 5, so the apps had to move up with it.

Before 1.2.3 From 1.2.3
Oldest supported Android 5.0 (Lollipop) 6.0 (Marshmallow)
Newest Android devices on Google Play Not offered Supported

If your device still runs Android 5, the version you already have keeps working, but Google Play will not offer it this update.

How to update

Open Google Play, go to Manage apps & device, and update Amazing Wheels. If you have automatic updates turned on, the new version arrives on its own over the next few days.
